Dr. Lorene Amet, D.Phil. M.Ed (Autism), Grad. Dip FN (ION), mBANT mCNHC Lorene Amet, founder of The Lauriston Centre. I have dedicated over two decades to the field of autism, working in public, academic, and third-sector organisations. My journey is driven by a profound commitment to providing a comprehensive and integrative approach to healthcare for neurodivergent children and their families. This center is the result of my goal to support the whole family of children with neurodiverse or complex health conditions, ensuring their condition is better understood and they receive adequate educational, health, and behavioural services. My approach is holistic, focusing on personalised healthcare plans that cater to the unique needs of each individual and their family. I´m lucky to work with a team of experts who share my approach and believe in my mission.´ My expertise spans various facets of autism and neurodivergence, including diagnosis, biomedical and educational interventions, training, research, and evaluation. I have worked nationally and internationally, engaging with professionals, individuals with autism, and their families across diverse cultural backgrounds. This broad exposure has enriched my understanding and ability to tailor support to each unique and individual situation. I collaborate with many professionals, including medical doctors, nutritionists, psychologists, and behaviour analysts, and have met with over 2000 families globally. Our work involves comprehensive evaluations that cover developmental history, family history, behaviour analysis, autism ratings, and detailed biomedical and physiological profiles. By working with a team, I can provide a much better range of support and outcomes. ´ My academic background includes a PhD in Biological Sciences from Oxford University and post-doctoral research at Princeton University and Edinburgh University. I also hold a Master´s in Special Education (Autism) from Birmingham University and an Autism Trainer Award accredited by Scottish Autism. This extensive training has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to implement effective, evidence-based interventions.
